The Damned and Dirty is one of the most exciting and innovative duos/bands in the roots tradition.
What started out as a side project of Kevin de Harde and Micha Sprenger grew bigger fast after their first release titled The Damned and Dirty in 2012. At first not having planned any live performances they released it digitally for free. Fans of the album started requesting live shows and they knew this was no longer just a side project. In 2014 their previous band officially disbanded, meaning The Damned and Dirty is now their main focus.
That set up does not mean the duo is a “smoothly playing in the corner, easy listening” kind of band. They rock, they roar, the slide guitar can scream and the vocals cut like a knife when needed in the songs. Listening to the songs and quality lyrics you will be impressed and think you ended up in a venue or festival in the south of the USA listening to one of the best American duo’s. Their English is American like it belongs there.
The Damned and Dirty write all of their own songs and they've already produced 4 albums. Their debut was released in 2012. In 2013 they released their second album Sell Your Soul. Their third album Rolling Into Town was presented in famous Paradiso, Amsterdam in November 2014. In 2015 they released Hoodoo Down, featuring more different music styles and guest musicians.Their first three albums have all won the award for "Best Blues Album" (presented by the Dutch Blues Foundation) three years in a row. Something no other blues/roots band in The Netherlands can claim.
Live they perform as a duo or as a 5 piece band. Adding drums, bass and keys/Hammond. They're also available as a three-piece band including simple drums/percussion.
The Damned and Dirty’s lyrics and music are of an international level. See them play live and you will be hooked, wanting more and looking forward to their next gig because every year they write more and more new exciting songs. They are the proof that blues/roots music is not dead. It’s alive and kicking... you in the butt. This year they got a lot of airplay on Dutch national radio (3FM, Arrow, Veronica), reached the finals of the Dutch Blues Challenge again and on October 20th they open up for Robert Cray in Paradiso in Amsterdam, simultaneously releasing their new vinyl single; two brand new songs on as a teaser for their 5th album that is coming out next year.
